How about a Coolidge cousin? Have any kind of Coolidge family connection? Just interested in learning more about the Coolidge family? If you nodded your head to any of these questions\, then this event is for you! \nThis year brings the 99th anniversary of President Calvin Coolidge’s homestead inauguration and the 150th anniversary of his birth. To mark the occasion\, the Coolidge Foundation is inviting the extended Coolidge family to join us for a special weekend program and celebration of the broader Coolidge family’s contributions to America. \n \nThe gathering takes place the weekend of August 5-7\, 2022 at the President Calvin Coolidge State Historic Site\, the President’s picturesque birthplace nestled in the Green Mountains of Plymouth Notch\, Vermont. With the centennial anniversary of President Coolidge’s inauguration taking place next year\, this event is a great opportunity to help your children or grandchildren explore their heritage and meet other members of the extended Coolidge family. \nThe weekend will kick-off on Friday evening\, August 5\, with a special “Coolidge Cousins” welcome reception and dinner. \nOn Saturday\, August 6\, we’ll gather at Plymouth Notch for a day of learning and festivity. Guests are invited to participate in a number of special sessions that will explore the legacy of the Coolidge family. These special sessions include: \n\nCottenham to Watertown and Beyond: Join us as we explore the journeys and contributions of the Coolidge Family in America.\nThe Spirits of Plymouth Notch: A ghostly theatrical encounter staged in the Plymouth Notch cemetery with Coolidge ancestors sharing their life stories.\nA Proud Legacy: President Coolidge’s Place in American History: Join New York Times bestselling author and Coolidge biographer Amity Shlaes\, and former Vermont Governor\, James H. Douglas\, for a discussion of the policy record and accomplishments of President Calvin Coolidge. Syndicated columnist Cal Thomas will serve as dinner emcee. The dinner will also include a lively and friendly Coolidge trivia contest!\n\nAdditionally\, on Saturday\, Coolidge Cousins are invited to take part in the festivities of Plymouth Old Home Day\, a special event at the same Plymouth Notch site hosted in partnership with the Vermont Division for Historic Preservation. Old Home Day activities include traditional craft and farm demonstrations\, wagon rides\, chicken barbecue\, and other fun activities for the entire family. This is a great opportunity to explore Plymouth Notch\, often called “America’s best-preserved presidential birthplace.” \nThe weekend wraps up Sunday\, August 7\, with morning activities and a farewell. \nThe registration cost is $250 per person or $500 per family\, which includes meals and Coolidge books for your family. Coolidge Cousins who register for this event will also receive a complimentary genealogical consultation session by Zoom prior to the event to explore their family’s relationship to President Coolidge. Coolidge relation Don Pollard\, a descendant of Mrs. Don Pollard\, President Coolidge’s aunt\, will be there to take your picture for you to memorialize the event. Attendees are responsible for covering their travel and hotel costs. Information about hotel block availability is forthcoming. \nFor more information\, please contact Coolidge Ambassador Tracy Messer.
