John Coolidge Dies
John Coolidge, son of Calvin and Grace Coolidge, dies at age 93. John Coolidge went to Mercersburg Academy with his brother Calvin and graduated in 1924. He then attended Amherst, his father’s alma mater, and graduated in 1928. He married the governor of Connecticut’s daughter, Florence Trumbull, in 1929. He was an executive with the New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroads. He served as president of the Connecticut Manifold Forms Company until 1960, when he reopened the Plymouth Cheese Corp. in Plymouth at the historic village. He helped start Coolidge Foundation and his gifts of buildings, land, and artifacts were instrumental in creating the President Calvin Coolidge State Historic Site. He is survived by a son-in-law, three grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.
