Letter from Calvin Coolidge to his Father

Date: September 4, 1908

Context: Coolidge writes about the young John Coolidge

Dear Father:-

Little John and his mother and father were very much pleased to get your letter and present. His other grandparents were not so thoughtful. John took the check and looked it all over, after his mother had told him it was money he looked at it some more and then handed it to her saying “mamma find the money.” He could not see any money about it.

I am sorry mother is not so comfortable. She is very patient. I suppose it does not help her much to say we must be thankful she is spared to us and has so many good days now.

My business keeps me busy most of the time. I am glad I shall be at home to attend to it.
