Letter from Calvin Coolidge to his Father

Date: May 10, 1921

Context: Coolidge writes about his ailing dog.

My dear Father:-

I ought to have written you many times. You have no idea how my time is taken up.

I suppose you know your dog is dead. She had some nervous disorder for two or three days and finally the doctor shot her. We all felt very badly.

I have thought of you often these May days. I especially thought of you on the 5th of May.

I am getting along all right here. Grace is home as you may know from the papers. She is wonderfully popular here. I don’t know what I would do without her.

your son,

Calvin Coolidge
