Julie Luddy Roach is a graduate of Barton College and of Connors State College, where she received her Bachelor of Science in Equine Technology. She shares her passion and knowledge of horses, teaching young girls dressage at no cost. Her goal is to foster among young people a strong work ethic and an appreciation of the outdoors in this increasingly digital age.
Julie worked with her father Robert Luddy on the design and aesthetics of the Franklin and Thales Academies. It was Julie who proposed the name Thales, after the Greek philosopher and mathematician Thales of Miletus. Many of Julie’s designs are still used in the construction of new Thales Academy campuses.
In 2009 Julie received the Anthemion Award which recognizes and honors outstanding dedication and commitment to excellence in historic preservation in Wake County, North Carolina. Julie continues to restore homes with a deep respect for the historic character of the property and a focus on design function and aesthetics.
Julie resides in North Carolina with her husband Michael, their daughter, and their four sons. Their oldest is a student at St. Thomas More Academy and frequently competes in Coolidge Foundation debate tournaments.
